List of phases of matter

This is a list of the different phases of matter including the more exotic ones.

Generally phases of matter are distinguished by the pressure and temperature, transforming into other phases as conditions change to favor existence of the other form, an example is melting and its complement freezing.

NASA (Mar. 5, 2014) Former astronaut Chris Ferguson of The Boeing Company demonstrated that the CST-100 spacecraft simulator and software allows a human pilot to take over control of the spacecraft from the computer during various phases of a mission following separation from the launch vehicle. The pilot-in-the-loop demonstration at the Houston Product Support Center on Jan. 16, 2014 was a milestone under Boeing's Commercial Crew Integrated Capability agreement with the agency and its Commercial Crew Program. EFE (July 10, 2013) A new image of a star being formed inside of a dark cloud was shot by the European Southern Observatory's ALMA telescope and is the best picture of this kind of event ever captured. The high resolution photograph will allow scientists to study the star's creation process in depth and expand or change established theories. In its current state, the star is 500 times the mass of our sun and is pulling large quantities of matter towards its core through gravity. This matter will eventually collapse, forming a young star that will ultimately be 100 times the size of the sun.
