Leaders in 2030 will need to be more effective in crossing global, digital, individual, demographic and technological boundaries and more efficient in managing energy and other scarce resources.
This finding will be presented today, Thursday 9 January 2014, to the Annual Conference of the British Psychological Society's Division of Occupational Psychology in Brighton by Dr Yvonne Sell from Hay Group.
Dr Sell and her colleagues at Hay Group identified six key megatrends that could challenge the way that businesses work over the next 15 years. These are:
· climate change and resource scarcity
· digital lifestyle
· demographic change
· technology convergence
Leaders of the future must build their skills to bring together a diverse, geographically dispersed workforce and will be increasingly reliant on technology. They will also need to handle the prevalence towards an 'always on' digital lifestyle as well as coping with an ageing world population. Businesses will need to up their game on not just greenwashing but being values led partnering to create 'big collaboration' to explore new technologies.
"Our research shows these trends will have broad reaching impact but few organisations are truly beginning to consider the impact," warns Dr Sell.
