Chinese-Canadians are at a much higher risk of a diabetes diagnosis despite having lower rates of obesity compared to European Canadians, a new study suggests.

Lab Made Mouse Pancreas Could Hold Key to Diabetes Cure

Reuters (Nov. 27, 2013) — A cure for diabetes could be a step closer, following successful experiments in mice to turn immature embryonic cells into cells that produce insulin. Danish researchers created viable miniature mouse pancreases using progenitor cells taken from embryos, and believe the same scientific principles could be applied to help the 382 million people world-wide affected by diabetes.
