Kenya Launches Tag System to Discourage Poachers

AFP (Apr. 9, 2012) — Last year was one of the worst on record for the world’s elephant population. African countries are bearing the brunt: last year, two hundred and seventy eight elephants were killed in Kenya alone. In a bid to track the elephants and discourage poachers, an electronic tagging exercise has been launched in Kenya’s Tsavo National Park.
