Florida Senate Approves Charlotte's Web Strain of Cannabis

TheStreet (Apr. 29, 2014) — Florida's senators have passed a bill to legalize one strain of cannabis, called Charlotte's Web, believed to help children with severe epilepsy. The bill will now go to the Florida House of Representatives for approval. If the bill is passed there, it will go on to Governor Rick Scott, who has said he is against medical marijuana. However, he is also concerned that if he doesn't sign the bill, political opponents will paint him as unsympathetic to sick children. The bill could come to his desk within a month. Medical Marijuana Bill Stays Alive in NY Assembly

TheStreet (May 28, 2014) — The New York Assembly voted yesterday to pass the Compassionate Care Act that would legalize medicinal marijuana. The Democratic led group has passed such a bill before, only to see it get voted down by the Senate. The Senate has a competing bill that is waiting review by the Finance Committee. If both bills pass, they will need to be combined and the differences between the two resolved. The legislative session ends June 19th, so time is running out for the bill to be voted on. The finance committee will not confirm if they will add it to their agenda before the session ends. Video provided by TheStreet
