Meteorological history of Hurricane Katrina

The meteorological history of Hurricane Katrina, an extremely destructive hurricane which was Category 5 at its peak, starts from its formation over the southeastern Bahamas as Tropical Depression Twelve, which was reported by the U.S.

National Hurricane Center (NHC) at 5:00 PM EDT on August 23.
