Washington University in St. Louis will honor Lynn M. Taussig, M.D., president and CEO of National Jewish Medical and Research Center, with its Alumni Achievement Award on May 9.

Dr. Taussig has been chosen for outstanding professional and personal accomplishments in the field of medicine, according to Mark S. Wrighton, chancellor; and William A. Peck, M.D., executive vice chancellor for medical affairs and dean of Washington University.

"I am very honored to be recognized by Washington University," Dr. Taussig said. "My medical education at Washington University taught me that compassion, caring and the search for knowledge are the most important tools a physician can have."

Dr. Taussig became president and CEO of National Jewish in 1993.

He graduated from Washington University School of Medicine in 1968 with his medical degree. In the last 30 years, he has received approximately 30 awards and honors.
