Crotalus atrox
Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnakes are the largest species of snake found in the United States. The species, along with its cousin the Western Diamondback Rattlesnake are part of the pit viper family, which are commonly referred to as "New World" vipers or snakes. Although the venom of the diamondback isn't particularly toxic, the size of the snake allows a larger capacity of venom which is released from its two prominent fangs.
