Levee failures in Greater New Orleans, 2005

In 2005, as a result of Hurricane Katrina, there were extensive failures of the levees and flood walls protecting New Orleans, Louisiana and surrounding communities.

There were also extensive subsequent investigations by civil engineers to attempt to identify the underlying reasons for the failures.
